Heartbreak Hill: The Uphill Battle of Women in Sports: Alyssa Hart Assistant Athletic Director at Beaver Country Day

Alyssa is the Assistant Director of Athletics at Beaver and has been in the athletic department for the last six years. Before her current role, Alyssa worked as a full-time Athletic Trainer at Beaver. She is passionate about creating equal opportunities for female athletes and empowering young women through movement and sport. In 2022, she made her marathon debut running the NYC Marathon for the Women's Sports Foundation. As an assistant coach for the Beaver 13.1 Team, it is Alyssa's mission to inspire students to set limitless goals for themselves and gain confidence through the sport of running.

The World as Object: Marlon Forrester — Parent at Beaver Country Day

Marlon is a recipient of the 2021 James and Audrey Forster Prize and his work is in the collection of the ICA/Boston. His current work explores how through media, Pop Culture, and advertisement the black male body is commodified through the sport of basketball. Utilizing his concept of “disequilibrium” he works to deconstruct the rites and rituals found with the games and life through his drawings, paintings, performance and large-scale installation.

Breaking the Silence: Owning Our Names: Camila Aguilera-Steinert Student at Beaver Country Day

Camila is a 17-year-old high-school senior at Beaver Country Day School. She was born and raised in Jamaica Plain and is a first-generation Chilean-American. Camila plays ice hockey and softball while maintaining a passion for visual arts.

Hannah is a junior at Beaver Country Day School. Hannah is originally from New York City and currently resides in Newton, MA. Throughout her life, Hannah has observed the environmental and personal aspects that play into one's capability to have empathy and communicate effectively. Hannah is interested in journalism, psychology, music, and fashion design.

My Experiences with Autism: Jim Kemp — Student at Beaver Country Day School

Jim Kemp is a senior at Beaver Country Day School from Medfield, MA. He is a member of both the Cross Country and Wrestling teams, an outdoor enthusiast, and a diehard engineer. He's built several robotics projects, his own alarm clock, a motorized swim platform, a slushie machine, and many other items.

The Ingredients of You: An Educators Recipe for Developing Your Passion: Sophia Baez — English and History Teacher at Beaver Country Day School

Sophia Baez is a teacher in the English and Global History and Social Science Departments. She is originally from Miami, FL. As a proud Cuban-American she loves ropa vieja, plátanos maduros, and Pitbull.


In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
